Baked Vanilla Applesauce

  • 2 pounds Granny Smith apples (about four large)
  • 1 1/2 pounds Gala apples (about four medium)
  • 1/2 stick butter,melted
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, split length wise


1. Preheat oven to 350°. Place apples on a Deep Flexiflat and bake until skins begin to peel away and flesh is tender, 45–60 minutes. When cool enough to handle, remove skins, then core and remove seeds. Pulse flesh in a food processor until coarsely puréed.

2. . Add apple purée, apple cider, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt to a medium round mold; scrape in vanilla seeds, reserving pod for another use. Bake for about 20 minutes.
