Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:


  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour + 2 tablespoons
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 C butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 C butter flavored Crisco
  • 1/2 C white sugar
  • 3/4 C light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 12 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Chopped walnuts, optional

Directions:


1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F and place oven rack in center position. Place Silpat® on Perforated Baking Sheet and set aside.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt, and set aside. In separate bowl place butter, Crisco, white sugar, brown sugar and mix with electric mixer on high until well blended.

3. Add egg and vanilla and mix with mixer until blended. Add dry ingredients and mix on low speed until dry ingredients are incorporated. Do not over-beat. Dough should not be overly creamy.

4. Chop walnuts and add to batter, then add chocolate chips. Place golf-ball sized balls onto Silpat® about an inch apart and bake for 20-25 minutes.
