Pulled-Pork Sandwiches


  • 1 boneless pork shoulder roast, skin removed, trimmed
  • 1 teaspoon Sel Gris Sea Salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
  • 1 tablespoon chipotle chile powder
  • 8 pretzel bread buns (see recipe in Sides)


1. Rub pork all over with salt and paprika. Heat oil in Fry Pan over medium-high heat. Brown pork on all sides, about 12 minutes.

2. For sauce: Heat oil in Medium Saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard and chile powder. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

3. Transfer pork to slow cooker and add sauce. Cover and cook on high for 6 hours on low for 8 hours. Remove pork from slow cooker and allow to cool slightly. With two forks, shred meat discarding fat and bones. Stir pulled pork in sauce in cooker. Divide evenly among pretzel buns an serve.
