Savory Breakfast Strata ~ Family Sized!

Recipe by Made with a toasty hash-brown crust and caramelized onions, this delicious recipe is flavor packed and great for brunch or a "Breakfast for Dinner" night! Easy to have fully prepared within 1 hour because various ingredients can be cooked while preparing the next step. They will LOVE this!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 1 large sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Demarle at Home, Spiced Apple Pear Balsamic
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 30 oz package hashbrowns, frozen
  • 2 cups Dubliner (or your favorite) cheese, shredded. (Divided)
  • 1 lb bacon, turkey bacon or mild turkey sausage, cooked, drained
  • 12 eggs, beaten
  • 6 green onions, thinly sliced + 2 left whole for garnish
  • Demarle at Home, Sel Gris Sea Salt
  • Garlic Powder
  • Freshly cracked Pepper
  • NOTE: For a more variety, before the final cheese layer, add fresh baby spinach and or tomatoes, seeded and diced. Sautéed sliced mushrooms or bell peppers are another wonderful choice. Feel free to experiment!!

Directions:

1. Arrange 2 oven racks towards the center of oven with approximately 6-9 inches in-between for heat circulation. Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees NO NEED TO OIL OR SPAY YOUR FLEXIPANS! Hash-browns won't even stick to our pans. This just pops out beautifully, potatoes, cheese and all! Just use hot soapy water to wipe clean. SWEET! *If you don't have flexipans, use a 9x11 pan and be sure to spray or oil your pan well. Serve in tin after baking rather than try to remove onto a platter. For clean-up, be sure to soak a few hours or over-night!

2. Place Grande Flexiflat on Large Perforated Baking Sheet Line pan with bacon strips, place on highest rack and bake for 25 minutes. Place Grande Mold on Medium Perforated Baking Sheet Line pan with hash-browns leaving a high edge around the outside, sprinkle with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden.

3. Meanwhile: Saute onion on stove top, in butter on medium heat for 20 minutes, only stirring occasionally. Add balsamic after 10-15 minutes, stirring well and continue cooking until nicely browned. Beat eggs, add sliced green onions, salt pepper to taste. Set aside. After Bacon is cooked to desired crispness, carefully remove from Flexiflat, sandwich in-between paper towels and pat thoroughly.

4. Remove hash-browns from oven, layer evenly with caramelized onion. Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded cheese. Add layer of fully cooked bacon. Add 2nd cup shredded cheese. Add beaten egg mixture. Bake for 20 minutes. To serve, allow to rest 5 minutes after removing the the oven. Simply peel down one side and slip entire strata onto your serving platter. Garnish with reserved green onions or perhaps a few spinach leaves ENJOY the accolades! And as always, Happy Cooking!
