Zesty Roasted Onions

Recipe by My husband absolutely loves these onions with steaks, ribs, burgers or even when we're having mexican night! They are similar to a onion ring without the batter and all the frying mess! And with a lot more flavor and spice!


  • Whole onions (Vidalia are the best, but use whats in season)
  • Demarle at Home Zesty Mediterranean Herb Blend
  • Panko bread crumbs


1. Preheat oven to 425' Place Demarle at Home Deep Flexiflat or Grande Flexiflat on Perforated baking sheet. Using the Demarle at Home 4" Paring knife slice the root and about one inch of the bottom of the onions at one end. Peel the skin from the onion, while still keeping them whole.

2. From the center of the cut end of the onion and using the tip of the paring knife, make 12-16 vertical slices, cutting in a clockwise manner as you would a pie, leaving about a 1/2 inch of uncut onion on the outside edge. Place peeled and cut onions in the DAH Stainless Mixing Bowl and drizzle liberally with the olive oil and allowing the oil to seep in between the cut layers of the onion.

3. Use your hands to completely rub and coat each onion with olive oil. Sprinkle each onion with the Zesty Mediterranean Herb Blend, covering completely. Place the onions on Flexiflat and bake for 50-60 minutes. During the last 15-20 minutes using the Demarle at Home Healthy Spritzer, spray the top of each onion a few times and sprinkle with 1-2 Tbs of Panko bread crumbs.
